GAME ONE

The Blue Devils scored their lone run in the top of the first to take an early lead over the Wolves. However, the lead was short-lived as the Wolves scored their first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning.

Tyler Wolfe (Covington, LA) and Brentley Berry (Magee) hit back-to-back singles to start the inning as Wolfe then scored on the third straight single of the inning by Josh Boone (Foxworth) making the score 1-1.

The Wolves looked to take a lead in the second inning as Sam Thomas (Ridgeland) and Braydon Evans (Florence) hit back-to-back singles to start the inning, but three straight outs brought the scoring threat to a quick end.

The Wolves broke the scoreless tie with a solo run in the bottom of the fourth as Thomas hit a two-out double and then scored on an RBI single by Evans to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead. The Wolves then scored their final three runs of the game in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Harrison Mohead (Madison) hit a two-out double to get the Wolves offense going and advanced to third on a single by Ryland Hemphill (Florence) who was then lifted for pinch runner Isaac McClenty (Ridgeland). Mohead then scored on an RBI single by Christian Cameron (Brandon) while McClenty then scored on third straight single by Thomas. Cameron then scored as Evans reached base on an error making the score 5-1.

The Wolves then allowed just two singles by the Blue Devils in the sixth and seventh innings to seal the 5-1 win.

GAME TWO

The Wolves stumbled early in the game as the Blue Devils took advantage of two errors in the first inning to score three unearned runs and hold a lead by that margin. The Blue Devils added a solo run in the top of the third to make the score 4-0.

The Wolves cut the lead down to one with three runs in the bottom of the fourth as Braden Freeman (Terry) got the offense started with a one-out single. Riley Easterling (Brookhaven) was later hit by pitch while Tyler Wolfe drew a walk to load the bases with two outs for the Wolves. Brentley Berry then cleared the bases with a three-RBI double to make the score 4-3.

The Blue Devils then hit a leadoff solo home run in the top of the fifth to extend their lead to 5-3. The Wolves once again cut the lead down to one with a solo run in the bottom of the sixth as Braydon Evans drew a leadoff walk and then scored from first on an RBI double by Riley Easterling. The Wolves looked to tie the game later in the inning as Berry drew a walk and then Josh Boone singled to give the Wolves runners on the corners with two outs, but a groundout but the potential game-tying threat to an end.

The Wolves got a two-out single by Freeman in the bottom of the seventh, but then the Blue Devils got the next Wolves batter to strikeout to end the game and seal the split of the day.
